Foster & Melissa were my very first session back behind the camera. Some of you may already know this, but I actually did photography years ago before COVID. When the world shut down, I was working full time at a vet clinic and simply trying to navigate the chaos and uncertainty that came with that season of life. Photography had to be put on hold, and honestly, I never knew if I’d find my way back to it again.

So stepping back into this world felt incredibly emotional, and having Foster & Melissa as my first session back made it even more meaningful — especially because I now work alongside Melissa! It truly felt full circle.


We chose downtown Rockford for their session, and it could not have been more perfect. The warm summer light, the vibrant colors, and the charm of the town made everything feel effortless. It was one of those beautiful Michigan evenings that reminds you exactly why you fell in love with photography in the first place.

Foster was honestly a GQ model in a past life, I’m convinced. He was telling me where to go, what angles he liked, and exactly how he wanted to pose. I told Melissa to just wait until senior pictures someday — he’s absolutely going to be running the entire show then too.

These two made stepping back into photography feel so natural and comfortable again. I’ll always be incredibly thankful that Foster & Melissa were my first session back, but definitely not my last. Sessions like this reminded me exactly why I fell in love with photography in the first place.
